    Role, function and purposes of electrical equipment in AC and DC power supply and distribution systems for stationary (both municipal and industrial) and mobile consumer. Contact, semiconductor and hybrid switches and their classification. Fundamental electromagnetic electrodynamic and thermal phenomena in electrical equipment, in working conditions and under interference; electrical and non-electrical hazards due to induction and capacity at overcurrents and overloads in circuits; environmental hazards; requirements for electrical equipment. Switching phenomena in electrical systems; interactions between selected pieces of equipment and systems, electromagnetic compatibility and reliability of electrical equipment. Safe operations of electrical equipment; electrical equipment at places with potentially explosive atmosphere; shock protection. Operating principles and design of selected devices and equipment; domestic and international normalization in electrical equipment, selected legal
    issues. Developmental trends in construction of equipment: vacuum and hexafluoride technologies in electrical equipment; ultrafast techniques of short circuit interruption; equipment in stored energy systems for stationary and mobile consumers. Electromagnetic interaction and electromagnetic environment. Interference generation and propagation mechanisms in electrical engineering. Disturbance signals. EMC units. Directive 2004/108 EEC and CE mark. Executing control system over EMC of equipment. EMC law. Introduction to equipment and systems designed in conformity with EMC.
